Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Tip-off: Wednesday, November 14, 2012 – 8:00 PM ET

Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, OK

The Memphis Grizzlies have impressed their YouWager fans with their best start in franchise history after a decisive victory over one of the league’s number one teams. Tonight, they will try to keep it going when they try to end the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s five-game streak.

The Grizzlies (5-1) will play even after the tragic news that assistant general manager Kenny Williamson died of cancer. The 65 year-old Williamson had just begun his sixth season with the team.

The Grizzlies believed they were going to get one of the most difficult tests of the early season with a home game against defending champion Miami Heat on Sunday, however Memphis was able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 104-86 win. Their bench scored a season-high 41 points, led by fourth-year pro Wayne Ellington’s career-best 25, and they limited Miami to 38.0 percent shooting.

The team is allowing averages of 89.8 points and 41.3 percent shooting over their victory streak and will try to build on those efforts when they meet Oklahoma City (6-2) before returning home to take on the New York Knicks on Friday.

According to the NBA odds, Memphis’ edge tonight might come from some potential fatigue for the home team. Oklahoma City will be playing their league-high ninth game this month and fifth in a week.

However, the Thunder ended their worries Monday to pull out a 92-90 victory versus the Detroit Pistons. Oklahoma City trailed by 11 points entering the final period, but Russell Westbrook scored 14 of his season-high 33 points and Kevin Durant added 11 of his 26.

The Thunder did a great job while prevailing in each of the first three meetings with Memphis last season before a 94-88 home defeat April 2. The Grizzlies shot 39.1 percent in that game but had six players in double figures compared with four for Oklahoma City.

It hasn’t been that long since each of these NBA teams most recent six-game win streak. Memphis finished 2011-12 with six consecutive victories, while Oklahoma City won six in a row March 21-April 1.
