NFL NEWS AT YOUWAGER: IS VIAGRA A PERFOMANCE ENHANCING DRUG ON THE FIELD, TOO?

“I don’t know too much about Adderall. I know guys — it is such a competitive league — guys try anything just to get that edge. I’m fortunate enough to be blessed with size and some smarts to give me my edge. But some guys, they’ll do whatever they can to get an edge. I’ve heard of some crazy stories. I’ve heard of guys using, like, Viagra. Seriously. Because the blood is supposedly thin, some crazy stuff. So, you know, it’s kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things so you have to be careful.”

-Brandon Marshall, Wide receiver, Chicago Bears

Adderall. Deer antler spray. Viagra? That’s right. YouWager’s NFL football wagering fans may be hearing a lot of talk about the use of the drug in the league in the next few days. While the online betting community has been seeing stories about the controversy surrounding the use of Adderall, some players have been taking the little blue pill instead. Besides bringing more fun to the post game celebrations, there may be reasons to support Viagra use in a game.

The head of YouWager’s research department tells us that like many scientific advancements, the drug’s sex-enhancing properties were an accidental discovery. “Viagra, or sildenafil citrate, was originally created to help patients with  pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure in arteries of the lungs,” he said. “The drug suppresses an enzyme that controls the blood flow, and this allows the vessels to relax and widen. This causes more blood into the penis, obviously. But in the case of NFL players, it can increase cardiac output and deliver more oxygenated fuel to the muscles. And that could potentially enhance endurance in a game.”

Kenneth Rundell, director of the Human Performance Laboratory, told a YouWager news source, “Basically, it allows you to compete with a sea level, or near sea level, aerobic capacity at altitude.”

Some sports medicine experts haven’t decided if Viagra qualifies as a performance enhancing drug, or PED. YouWager’s expert can attest to one sure factor in the situation: The desire to succeed. If a professional athlete thinks this drug will help him, he may try it. Many of them will do almost anything to give themselves an edge in a game.

Unlike steroids, which are known to shrink genitalia, the wives and girlfriends of the athletes experimenting with this one may not have any complaints.

No doubt, Viagra/NFL jokes are already circulating on the Internet, among the sports betting public. And if the league bans it, players that use Viagra could face stiff penalties…

We notice Brandon Marshall did not admit to using Viagra himself. Maybe it would hurt his image to confess such a thing. Online football bettors call him ‘The Beast.’ Marshall’s wild adventures off the field are somewhat legendary, and he is the league’s most famous documented case of Borderline Personality Syndrome. Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha told a YouWager source that he is “the toughest guy to bring down, one-on-one.”

Somewhere, some sportsbook bettor is probably thinking, “That’s what she said.”
