The Duke Blue Devils will not be counting on senior forward Ryan Kelly who is sidelined indefinitely with a right foot injury. The incident occurred during the top-ranked Blue Devils’ 68-40 win versus the Clemson Tigers earlier this week.
Now that Kelly is out indefinitely, YouWager experts consider the team’s defense could face difficult times. Rivals are shooting just 22 percent against the senior. In addition, Kelly ranks third in the country in fewest points allowed per play (minimum 100 plays defended).
Kelly had 12 points in the first half against the Tigers but sat out the second. Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski stated that Kelly hurt the same foot he tweaked during the holidays and sprained last March, an injury that kept him out of both the ACC and NCAA tournaments.
The forward is averaging 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game for the college basketball season. Kelly had scored in double figures in 13 of Duke’s 15 games.
The 20 year-old ranks third all time in career winning percentage (105-13, .890) for Duke.
The Blue Devils visits No. 20 North Carolina State Wolfpack on Saturday.
