Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets
Tip-off: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 – 9:00 PM ET
Pepsi Center, Denver, CO
The Boston Celtics have faced some serious problems with injuries but have somehow still impressed YouWager experts and remained a factor in the Eastern Conference.
In addition, the Celtics withstood three overtimes to beat the Denver Nuggets last week.
Boston will try to continue their strong tonight when they emerge from the All-Star break and attempt to come away with a rare victory at Denver.
In January the Celtics (28-24) lost Rajon Rondo (torn ACL), Jared Sullinger (back surgery) and Leandro Barbosa (torn ACL) to season-ending injuries. Boston appeared to be headed in the wrong direction with a season-high six-game slide that ended with Rondo’s injury during a 123-111 double-overtime defeat against the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 25.
The Celtics have seem to turned thing around winning eight of nine — including wins against the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers before entering the break with a 71-69 victory against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
Garnett and Boston were surely pleased after a 118-114 triple-overtime win at home versus Denver (33-21) on Feb. 10.
The Celtics are looking to sweep the season series for the first time since 2003-04, but according to the NBA odds the team has lost three straight and seven of eight in Denver.
Garnett, averaging 17.7 points and 10.2 rebounds over the past 10 games, is hoping to be rested for this season-high five-game road trip. He played just over 6 minutes in Sunday’s All-Star game versus the Houston Rockets.
Denver is surely rested following the break since they didn’t have an All-Star despite sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference and ranking third in the NBA with 105.1 points per game.
Even so, the Nuggets may have been looking forward to some time off since they followed a season-high nine-game winning streak by dropping three in a row.
