Philadelphia 76ers vs. Chicago Bulls
Tip-off: Thursday, February 28, 2013 – 8:00 PM ET
United Center, Chicago, IL
YouWager fans following the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers were looking forward to having their favorite franchise players back by now. Experts consider that their ongoing absences have been extremely negative for both teams.
It’s still not cleat if or when Derrick Rose and Andrew Bynum will return this NBA season, Chicago is descending down the playoff standings and the visiting Sixers may be ruining their postseason hopes altogether going into this meeting this evening.
It’s almost certain that a rematch of these teams’ 2012 first-round playoff series — one in which Rose tore his ACL – will not take place. The 76ers (22-33) have fallen well behind eighth-place Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot, and the Bulls (32-25) have descended to sixth after entering this month at No. 3 and leading the Central Division.
Chicago has lost that lead and went 4-8 in February to drop four games back of the Indiana Pacers in the Central, not to mention 10 behind East-leading Miami Heat after being within two earlier in February.
In addition, the NBA live lines suggest that Rose might not play this season after it was originally believed he’d return around the All-Star break, but other injuries are hurting the Bulls’ cause.
Philadelphia runs of eight consecutive road defeats is its worst since a 10-game slide Nov. 17-Dec. 16, 2006.
The Sixers have dropped six in a row overall, recording their longest losing streak since the 2009-10 season, and Bynum’s offseason acquisition has yet to pay off. The 76ers hoped to see him by the New Year, but the former Los Angeles Lakers center has yet to play for the 76ers due to knee problems.
No other Philadelphia starter scored more than 10 on Tuesday in a 98-84 home defeat versus the Orlando Magic which had lost 10 consecutive games away from home.
The Sixers have lost four straight against Chicago, including two this season, and now look to avoid being swept in the season series for the first time since 1996-97.
