Robert Griffin III Owns Top Selling Jersey: NFL News at YouWager

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III managed to end the year with the best selling jersey in the NFL and in addition more of his No. 10 jerseys were sold in the league this fiscal year than any jersey in the NFL history.

Player Team
1  Robert Griffin III Redskins
2 Peyton Manning Broncos
3 Ray Lewis Ravens
4 Colin Kaepernick 49ers
5 Tom Brady Patriots
6  Andrew Luck Colts
7 Aaron Rodgers Packers
8 Victor Cruz Giants
9 Eli Manning Giants
10 Patrick Willis 49ers

According to YouWager findings, New Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning came in second in jersey sales and sold the third most in a single year, without a doubt boosted by the league’s new Nike apparel deal.

Minnesota Vikings Brett Favre’s (2009) and New York Jets jerseys (2008) are the second- and fourth-best-selling jerseys in a single football season.

At Number 3 is Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis on last season’s jersey rankings, up from No. 17 the previous season, and a Super Bowl run gave San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Colin Kaepernick a push into the fourth spot. Jerseys of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ended up in fifth place.

San Francisco finished first in team merchandise sales, edging out Baltimore despite losing to the Ravens in the Super Bowl. The highest the Niners had previously finished on the list, since the NFL started monitoring sales in 1979, was second in 1994 and ’95. The New York Giants, Washington and Pittsburgh Steelers rounded out the top five.

Online sports betting experts consider that perhaps a lack of playing time may have led to the plummeting sales of Tim Tebow’s Jets jersey, which started the year in the No. 1 spot but finished in 13th, one spot ahead of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who had an amazing rookie season. Jerseys of Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez did not finish in the top 25.
