YouWager’s NASCAR betting fans are used to seeing driver Danica Patrick in provocative outfits, appearing sultry in commercials for her sponsor, GoDaddy.com.
But she has never appeared nude.
It hasn’t happened. Not yet, anyway. Patrick told a YouWager news source that she’s not interested in appearing in the new ESPN Body Issue magazine. She has also turned an offer to appear in nothing but body paint, in Sports Illustrated. Patrick says she’s no prude. She’s just not ready. The magazine already features NHRA drag racer Courtney Force, in a nude “artistic” pose.
Patrick told YouWager’s source, “I just never felt like that was something that I needed or wanted to do. Any scantly clad has all been swimsuit stuff. Would I feel comfortable? Yeah, I’m sure it would be a little bit borderline. There’s a difference to me between going to the beach and wearing a swimming suit and going to a beach and wearing nothing or paint.”
While many sportsbook bettors may not see Patrick as a serious contender in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, they do enjoy the distraction that she provides in a mostly all-male sport. Patrick seems to understand that her appearance has been linked to her success. She models bikinis in commercials and posters, and at some point, she may take the idea even further. She told YouWager’s source, “Artistically, I think it would be really fun, but it’s not things that I need to do to push the issue with my brand. There’s already enough stuff that I do that pushes that, so I’d rather stay in my full comfort zone than go that far.”
Some cynical NASCAR fans wonder if Patrick would drop her top to stay on her team. As if she anticipates the need for such an event, Patrick told YouWager’s source, “I’m not saying there never will be a day. When I speak to them and they ask me each time, I say, ‘Don’t stop asking. I don’t know. I might change my mind one year and it might be something that parallels something else I’m doing or where I’m at.’”
Patrick told the source that her sponsors have never pushed her to do racy photos, or kept her from doing them. She said her main sponsor, Go Daddy, has encouraged her to do whatever she wants. Patrick still isn’t sure that nudity would bring better things to her life. Recently, in an interview, Kyle Petty, RIchard’s son, told a reporter that he didn’t think Danica Patrick was a real race driver. A fast driver, yes, but a racer? He quoted his father, to make a point. There are drivers and there are racers, he said. Kyle Petty admitted he was not one of the great racers.
Unlike Petty, Patrick has a few more options for fame and fortune. Appearing naked would make her even more famous. “I still have to do things that I feel completely comfortable with and I feel like wouldn’t take away from the other things that I do, the good things that I do,” she said. “Because those things can turn negative quick and be louder than the good, and that’s not what I want to happen,” Patrick told YouWager’s source.
