“It’s a sad day. It’s really a sad day. On so many levels.”

– Bill Belichick, Head Coach, New England Patriots

Normally the strong silent type around sports reporters, New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick dared to speak about the ongoing Aaron Hernandez murder case, and his other charges, and how the Patriots will move forward from it all. A YouWager news source noted that many sportswriters were very surprised to see how open Belichick seemed to be as he opened a recent press conference with an emotional statement.

“I’m going to address the situation involving Aaron Hernandez,” Belichick began. I felt that it was important enough to do that prior to the start of camp. It’s a sad day. It’s really a sad day on so many levels. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim and I extend my sympathy really to everyone who’s been impacted. A young man lost his life and his family has suffered a tragic loss and there’s no way to understate that.”

As  YouWager’s dedicated NFL football wagering fans surely know, Belichick is known for being gruff with reporters, ignoring questions, and only addressing the issues he wants to talk about. Belichick’s remarks revealed his own pain, some fans felt. Now, analysts say, no one will be able to portray New England’s coach as an arrogant leader. It’s a good move for the team, they say.

“When I was out of the country I learned about the ongoing criminal investigation that involved one of our players,” Belichick explained, before  YouWager’s source. “I and other members of our organization were shocked and disappointed at what we learned. It’s a terrible thing, and after consultation with ownership we acted swiftly and decisively. Robert [Kraft], his family and I, since I got here in 2000, have always emphasized the need to represent our organization the right way both on and off the field. We’ve worked hard over the last 14 years putting together a winning team that is a pillar in the community and I believe 100-percent on that.”

YouWager’s football bettors have seen the New England Patriots move fast and furiously to remove any link to Aaron Hernandez. Now the University of Florida is attempting to erase the name and image of their former star receiver as well. The school has removed photographs of Hernandez from the locker room, sports facility, and stadium. Like the New England Patriots, Florida wants to move forward.

According to  YouWager source, Belichick put it this way: “Moving forward consists of what it’s always been here — to build a winning football team, be a strong pillar in the community and be a team that our fans will be proud of. That’s where we are.”
