Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos

Kickoff: 8:30PM ET, Thursday, September 5th

Line: Denver -7, Total: 48

Ready for some football? Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos will be ready for some payback time when they host the defending NFL champions, the Baltimore Ravens, at their Mile-high stadium, in the first game of the regular 2013 NFL wagering season. At YouWager, the Broncos are currently a 7 point favorite.

Denver ended the 2012 football betting season with 11-0 straight up and 9-2 against the spread. Many sportsbook bettors feel the defense has looked tougher every week, in preseason. If Peyton Manning is as ready as the sportswriters want the sports betting public to believe, it should a great show. Payback? The last time these two teams squared off, the Broncos lost 38-35 in the last minutes of the game, in front of a home crowd.

Normally the Ravens, as the defending Super Bowl champions, would be home, hosting their first game in the regular season. But a scheduling conflict with the Orioles in Baltimore, sent Joe Flacco and company on the road a little earlier than they would have liked.

During the regular season, the Ravens went 10-6 straight up and 6-9-1 against the spread. However, during the postseason, Baltimore was 4-0 straight up and against the spread and they went all to way to claim the Lombardi Trophy.

Except for the suspended Von Miller, the Broncos have nearly all their players from last year. It’s a different story for the Ravens. Losing Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Anquan Boldin will surely hurt. While Flacco and the offense may perform well, Baltimore’s defense may struggle to adapt. In their last 4 games against Denver, Baltimore is 3-1 straight up and against the spread. Their last 3 contests have gone over the total. The over/under is 48.

While some of YouWager’s NFL football wagering fans may be reluctant to give 7 points to the Super Bowl champs, many sportsbook bettors expect Peyton Manning to be successful against Baltimore’s defense. It doesn’t hurt to have a home advantage, and a reason to get even. Online oddsmakers expect this game to be a very fast-moving one, with both clubs employing rapid, no-huddle offenses.
