Washington Redskins vs. Detroit Lions, at Washington

Kickoff: Sunday, September 22nd, at 1PM Eastern

Line: Washington -2 Total: 49

RG3 and company really really need a win on Sunday. When the Washington Redskins (0-2) host the Detroit Lions this weekend, going into the game, the Lions will be 1-1 on the season so far, 1-0 at home and 1-1 against the spread. They have two straight victories to hold over the Redskins, but these happened in Detroit. In this series, the home team has been 8-2 against the spread in the last 10 games. Detroit is 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 games in Washington. This time out, Washington, the home team, is a slight favorite at YouWager.

Washington has struggled to get the 2013 regular NFL football wagering season off and running, trailing in games by 20 points. Now, Robert Griffin III is promising he will run more. Griffin told a YouWager news source, ”It’s not that I want to run more, I just feel like that’s what we need. If that’s what it takes to win games, then I’m willing to do that.” In the last two games, Griffin has only run for 25 yards. One year ago, as an NFL rookie, he set a record last season with 815 yards rushing.

Detroit enters this contest after a 25-21 loss to Arizona. In the second half of that game, Detroit was ahead by 8 points, but the Lions simply could not build enough momentum. On average, Detroit’s defense is allowing opponents to grab 24.5 points and 395 yards per game. Reggie Bush has been a major factor for the offense, claiming 115 rushing yards and 145 receiving yards. However, there are questions about his injured knee. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown for 635 yards, making 4 touchdowns and throwing1 interception.

Spreading hope, Robert Griffin III has implied in interviews that he will look a lot more like the quarterback that excited sportsbook bettors in his debut. Griffin admits that he is happy to hype his team. He said, “We just need energy out there on the field, period. Especially on the road, the crowd’s not going to give you any energy, so I take it upon myself to be that guy. I’ve never been a hype man, but Lil John’s a Redskins fan, and you can learn a little bit from him, so I’ll be the hype man if they need me to be the hype man.”

At YouWager, Washington is 2 point favorite. The Over/Under is 49. Game time on Sunday is 1PM Eastern.
