NFL NEWS AT YOUWAGER: THE MOST DISLIKED PLAYERS OF 2013

YouWager’s serious NFL football wagering fans love to win big payoffs. They enjoy the competition of the game, they follow the teams, and keep up with the latest stats, the odds, and the histories of their favorite teams. But sportsbook bettors can’t always say they love the athletes. It’s simply hard to like to some people, especially if they are mean, arrogant, or self-centered. Football is a team sport, after all. Now, a company called E-Poll has conducted a survey that confirms the ratings for some of the most unpopular players in the National Football League. The players many people really dislike.

The survey polled more than 1,000 people, on their attitudes about players that are currently active in the NFL. YouWager’s football betting enthusiasts probably won’t be too surprised to see who made the list. These are the top five, the five most disliked players in the NFL today:

1. Michael Vick
2. Manti Te’o
3. Ndamukong Suh
4. Ben Roethlisberger
5. Mark Sanchez

According to the E-Poll’s statistics, 53% do not like Michael Vick. Vick may be doing well enough financially these days, with the endorsements he regained during his comeback. Nike may approve of him again, now that he’s back from jail, but the sports betting public hasn’t forgotten about his dog fighting ring, or the bold claims he has made about his athletic abilities.

With almost as many points as Vick, Manti Te’o, now a linebacker for the San Diego Chargers, got a strong dislike of 48%. The strange “fake girlfriend” scenario that surfaced in the press was certainly a distraction. As an NFL rookie, a foot injury has interfered with Te’o’s chance to make the online betting community think of him any other way. In addition to the oddness factor, many die hard college football wagering fans don’t feel Te’o lived up to the hype when he was playing for Notre Dame. Gerry Philpott, CEO of E-Poll told a YouWager news source, “I think this will stay with him until he gets the chance to prove them wrong.”

Ndamukong Suh, the notorious lineman for Detroit, was no surprise on this list. Suh has a reputation for being tough. And dirty. YouWager’s football bettors may remember that Suh was near the top of a list not long ago that ranked the dirtiest players in the NFL.

The other players are on the list can all be cured of their unpopularity, when it comes to Internet football wagering. They just have to find a way to win. If Ben Roethlisberger or Mark Sanchez suddenly became incredibly successful monkey-making quarterbacks, throwing accurately, playing predictably, helping their teams cover spreads and win games, they might be making Internet gamblers very happy with big payoffs based on their exploits, and they could very well end up on another kind of list. A list of winners.
