Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture
Here are the 5 nominees for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture:
Regina King – If Beale Street Could Talk (-200): This movie is generating a lot of buzz, with former President Barack Obama naming it as one of his favorites. Could that lead to Miss King winning at the 3rd time of asking?
Amy Adams – Vice (+140): Miss Adams took on the role of Lynne Cheney in this movie, delivering a performance that secured her 9th nomination. She already has 2 Golden Globe wins under her belt.
Rachel Wesiz – The Favourite (+1300): When you have an ensemble cast as good as the one in The Favourite, it’s no surprise to see more than one actress represented. This is the 3rd nomination for Miss Weisz, who already has 1 Golden Globe to her name.
Emma Stone – The Favourite (+1300): Miss Stone may still be relatively new to Hollywood, but she has made a big impact, with this being her 5th nomination. She has 1 win to her name and must be considered one of the favorites here.
Claire Foy – First Man (+1400): Miss Foy has already been nominated twice for her role in TV’s The Crown, with those nominations ending in one win. Sher makes the leap to motion pictures for this nomination, but she is in with a talented group of ladies here.
Our Prediction: Regina King
Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
Here are the 5 actors vying for the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe:
Mahershala Ali – Green Book (-200): This will be the second time that Mr. Ali has been nominated in this category, with his previous nomination coming to a couple of years back for Moonlight. Could the second time be the charm?
Timothée Chalamet – Beautiful Boy (+200): While Mr. Chalamet may not be a household name like some of the other actors in this list, he is already putting together a solid resume, with this being his second nomination in as many years.
Richard E. Grant – Can You Ever Forgive Me? (+400): The veteran British actor has been around for a long time now and has delivered countless memorable performances, so it is perhaps a little surprising that this is his first nomination.
Sam Rockwell – Vice (+1200): Mr. Rockwell has developed a reputation for taking on quirky roles that always allow him to stand out in the crowd. He won at his first time of asking for his turn in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, but can he make it two in a row?
Adam Driver – BlacKkKlansman (+2500): Perhaps best known for his time on TV’s Girls and as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars universe, Mr. Driver is now being recognized as one of the best in the business, which has helped him secure his first Golden Globe nomination.
Our Prediction: Mahershala Ali
