March Madness is the time of year that every sports bettor looks forward to, as it is an opportunity to build your bankroll in a relatively short time period. This is especially true if you can add some underdogs to your betting mix. Realistically, there are about 6-8 teams with a legitimate shot at being the National Champions, which also means that there are a lot of upsets waiting to happen. We will get a better idea of where those upsets might lie once the official bracket is released, but for now, we have a few teams that we believe can upset the apple cart in the opening rounds.

Loyola-Chicago Ramblers

When looking for an upset possibility, it is always a good idea to start by looking at some of the best mid-major teams out there right now. With that in mind, you need to take a look at the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, a team that is likely to be in as a #10 seed, or thereabouts. The won the MVC in convincing fashion and are a team that can beat you a couple of different ways. They are about as solid as it gets on the defensive side of the court but can also bombard opponents from beyond the 3-point line. The took out Florida, who was ranked #5 back in December, so are obviously not scared of the big boys.

Arizona State Sun Devils

This is a team that was, at one point, the last undefeated team this season, a run that ended once they got into conference play. The Sun Devils have been up and down at that point, but when they put things together, they are a nightmare to defend. This is a team that can light it up when they got hot from beyond the 3-point line, a lesson that Xavier quickly learned when they gave up 102 points to this group in December.

Florida Gators

The Gators spent a large portion of the first half of the season in the top 10 before having a December to forget. They have put that month well in the rearview mirror now, booking an automatic berth into the SEC championship quarter-finals. If they can put on a strong showing in their conference tournament, it may just provide them with the sort of momentum required when heading into March Madness. They are probably going to have a #8 or #9 ranking in the tournament, which will give them a very winnable game in the opening round.

North Carolina State Wolf Pack

The Wolf Pack are coming off a disappointing second-round loss to Boston College in the ACC Tournament in a game that they looked to have in hand. It would be easy to look at that one game and write them off, but that would most definitely be a big mistake. NC State delivered some very big wins in the regular season, proving that they could hold their own in what is a very talented ACC. One major benefit that this team has is that they do not rely on one or two players to score, as they spread out the offensive wealth. They have 6 players averaging over 8 PPG, so honing in on just one guy is not going to work.
