ACC Championship Odds, Game Info: Miami Hurricanes vs Clemson Tigers
With just one game left to play before we enter into bowl season in college football, all that any team can ask for is that their playoff fate is in their own hands. There are a few teams heading into Conference Championship Saturday in college football in control of their own destiny, but not all of them are going to move on to be in the playoffs.
The ACC Championship Game features a pair of teams that will almost certainly be playoff bound with a win, but since we can only have one winner, either the Miami Hurricanes or Clemson Tigers are going to be left out by the playoff committee on Tuesday night when the final rankings of the year are released. Both teams have taken a similar path to this point in that they only have a single loss to teams that they were heavily favored against.
The Clemson Tigers look like the better of the two offenses, and are still the defending champions, while the Hurricanes have one of the most opportunistic defenses in the nation. According to the latest ACC Championship Odds, Clemson is a 9 ½ point favorite, with the point total for this one set at 46.

Why bet on the Miami Hurricanes
When Mark Richt was relieved of his duties by the Georgia Bulldogs, the knock on him was that he could not win the big game. He has shaken that label somewhat this season, especially when his Hurricanes laid a beating on Notre Dame, but this is probably the game that he is going to be judged by. The Hurricanes saw their playoff hopes take a serious hit with an unexpected loss to the Pitt Panthers last weekend, but they will almost certainly get in by beating Clemson on Saturday night.

For that to happen, Miami needs to play the sort of defense that saw them get bailed out on several occasions during the regular seasons. Turnovers have played a huge role in the success of the Hurricanes, and that “Turnover Chain” that the D likes to sport after a big play had better be in evidence on the sidelines this weekend. Miami is 10-1 SU on the season, but just 5-6 ATS in those games.
Why bet on the Clemson Tigers
The road to the playoffs looked as though it might be littered with obstacles after the Clemson Tigers were stunned by the Syracuse Orange a few weeks back. While that loss was disastrous, it’s worth remembering that it came when QB Kelly Bryant was forced out of the game with an injury.
With Bryant in the line-up, the Tigers have looked close to unbeatable, which probably explains why they are such a heavy favorite for this one. Clemson has gone 3-2 SU in their last 5 meetings with the Hurricanes, as well as being 4-1 ATS in those match-ups. They went 11-1 SU in the regular season this year and were 7-4-1 ATS in those games. The Clemson Tigers will go as Kelly Bryant does this weekend, and if he can avoid turnovers, his team could be in the driver’s seat from the off.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
The Miami Hurricanes have been involved in more than their fair share of close games this season, and this could well be another one. I like Clemson to win and move on to the playoffs, but I’m not so sure they will cover. I also think this one will go OVER.
