NCAA Odds Put Michigan State ahead of Washington in 2017 Holiday Bowl
Effective wagering is all about smart money management, and it’s fair to say that it’s a little easier to plan your wagers during college football bowl season. For the most part, the games are all played at different times, allowing you to see the outcome of your pending wager before moving on to the next. There is a little bit of a decision to make on Thursday night, though, as the Holiday Bowl kicks off at the same time as the Alamo Bowl. Both games feature teams who finished the season ranked in the top 25, which makes both games great ones to watch and wager on. This may be a scenario where you need to get the TV and laptop going at the same time, so you can tune into both. For this piece, we are going to focus on the Holiday Bowl, which looks to be a great match-up. We have the Michigan State Spartans bringing their impressive recent bowl record to San Diego to go up against the Washington State Cougars. The Spartans are ahead in the NCAA Odds by 1-point, with the point total set at 46.

Why bet on the Michigan State Spartans
The Michigan State Spartans finished the year with a 9-3 record, good enough to leave them ranked #16 in the nation. They finished the season on a high note, winning their final 2 games of the regular season, which was actually a decent way to bounce back after getting pounded by Ohio State prior to those victories. They had a couple of signature wins on their schedule this season, beating both Penn State and their bitter rivals the Michigan Wolverines. This is not a team that is going to come out and overpowers you on offense, as they only managed to average 23 PPG this season. Their wins came courtesy of a defense that gave up just 20 PPG, ranking them among the best in the country. A win here for the Spartans would be their 5th in their last 6 bowl games. Michigan State went 7-5 ATS and 5-7 O/U in the regular season.

Why bet on the Washington State Cougars
The Washington State Cougars finished the season with a 9-3record, good enough to leave them ranked #18 in the final poll. The Cougars are a team that comes in with a very definite game plan, as they are always going to try and beat you through the air. It’s a plan that works more often than not, but it’s a little surprising to see a team win 9 games when they are averaging less than 74 YPG on the ground. QB Luke Falk has mastered the big passing play this season, leading his team to an average of 31 PPG. He got some help from his defense, as they held the opposition to less than 25 PPG this season. The Cougars ended their season on a bit of a sour note, losing their final regular season game to Washington, so they will want to regain some pride in this one. The Cougars went 7-5 ATS and 5-7 O/U this year.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This game is probably going to be as tight as the line suggests, and I believe it will be Washington State who comes out with the win in the Holiday Bowl. I think the point total is going to fall just UNDER the mark set by the bookies.
