College Football Parlay Picks for 1st Bowl Round
Who’s ready to go bowling? We may still have a few weeks to wait before the college football playoffs get underway, but we have a ton of bowl games to look forward to between now and then. The action begins in earnest this coming Saturday, December 16, with no less than 5 bowl games on tap. We plan on having in-depth looks at those games as the week progresses, but for now, we are going to put together some parlay plays.
Rather than creating tickets, I am going to give an SU, ATS, and O/U pick for each of the 5 games so you can then mix them and come with your own college football parlay picks. Let’s get right to the action.
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl – Troy Trojans vs North Texas Mean Green
The Trojans, who finished the season 10-2, come in as a 6 ½ point favorite over the 9-4 North Texas Mean Green. Troy did the majority of their damage this season by playing great defense but will be up against it versus the high-scoring Mean Green. While I believe that North Texas will put points up on the board, I think they are destined to come up short. Let’s take Troy SU and ATS, with the total in this one falling UNDER the 62.
Prediction: Troy Trojans 36 North Texas Mean Green 24

AutoNation Cure Bowl – Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs Georgia State Panthers
Neither of these two teams really lit things up in the regular season. The Hilltoppers finished 6-6, while the Panthers were 5-6 on the year. Western Kentucky is a 6 ½ -point favorite for this one, and are likely to be dragged into a defensive battle, especially since 8 of the 11 games that the Panthers played this season went UNDER. I think that Western Kentucky win SU, and that they cover, albeit only just. I also like the UNDER 51 ½ here.
Prediction: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 28 Georgia State Panthers 21
Las Vegas Bowl – Boise State Broncos vs Oregon Ducks
These two teams have been treating fans to offensive shootouts for many years now, so it’s perhaps no real surprise that the O/U for this one should be set at 59 points. Boise State finished the season ranked #25, and are worthy of being a 7 ½ point favorite for this one against a Ducks team that ended with a somewhat disappointing 7-5 record. Both teams can put up points, and I think we are going to see a shootout. Let’s go with Boise State SU, Oregon ATS, and let’s also play the OVER on this one.
Prediction: Boise State Broncos 32 Oregon Ducks 30
Gildan New Mexico Bowl – Marshall Thundering Herd vs Colorado State Rams
Marshall missed out on a bowl game last season, so expect them to be more than a little fired up for this one. Both teams finished the season with the same 7-5 record, and while Colorado State had better offensive numbers, it was Marshall that was a little stingier on the defensive side of the football. This could be a tight one, with Colorado State coming in as a 5 ½ point favorite. I think the Rams win and cover here, and I also think we go OVER the 58 points.
Prediction: Marshall Thundering Herd 27 Colorado State Rams 34
Raycom Media Camellia Bowl – Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders vs Arkansas State Red Wolves
The final game on Saturday night features a pair of teams who, on paper at least, appear to be pretty evenly matched. Arkansas State finished the season at 7-4, and are a tough team to handle offensively, but in Middle Tennessee, they are facing a team with plenty of bowl experience, as this will be their fourth in the last 5 years. The Red Wolves are a 3 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 62 ½. I think that Arkansas State wins and cover quite handily, and I really like the OVER here.
Prediction: Middle State Blue Raiders 27 Arkansas State Red Wolves 39
