Rebels vs Bulldogs holds value as a College Football Betting Predictions
If you are a fan of football, then you will almost certainly have Thanksgiving Day circled off on your calendar. Not only is it a national holiday, it is a day that is jam-packed with games from noon until basically midnight. While the NFL gets most of the play on this day, it also spells the start of rivalry week in college football betting predictions, and we have a good one on tap for Thursday night.

The Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs are both out of the conference and playoff picture, but both will relish that opportunity to go against one another as they battle it out in the Egg Bowl. There is not a lot of love lost between these two in-state rivals, and even in years where neither team has been particularly great, there is still a desire to go out there and get bragging rights for the year. The Bulldogs are a firm 14 ½ point favorite for this one, with the point total set at 66. It’s a pretty big spread, but this game may turn out to be more competitive than a lot of people expect.
When: Thursday, November 23 at 7:30 PM EST
Where: Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field, Mississippi State
Why bet on the Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss has had, by their standards, a disappointing season, as they are coming into this one with a 5-6 record on the year. Ordinarily, the rebels would be playing for bowl eligibility in this one, but since they have a self-imposed bowl ban in place for this year, all they are really playing for is pride, and the opportunity to get one over on their biggest rivals. The Rebels are coming off a tough 31-24 loss to Texas A&M last week, but they have been better in the latter stages of the season, winning 2 of their last 3 games.
Ole Miss can hurt teams offensively and are averaging about 335 YPG through the air. The problem this team has is on the defensive side of the football, particularly against the run, where they are giving up about 240 YPG on the ground. The Rebels have only won 1 of their last 6 games on the road to the Bulldogs but did go 4-2 ATS in those games.
Why bet on the Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Mississippi State Bulldogs started the 2017 college football season as one of the most potent teams in the game, and while they have fallen to an 8-3 record, they are still averaging over 32 PPG this year. The Bulldogs can hurt their opponents both through the air and on the ground, but given how leaky the Rebels D has been against the run, I think we can expect to see the Bulldogs pound the football up the middle with stunning regularity on Thursday night.
If they can do that, the big downfield plays will open up, and this game could get out of hand quite quickly. Mississippi State has won 6 of their last 10 meetings against the Rebels, and as mentioned earlier, it has been at home where they have been most effective. The Bulldogs are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games at home and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I think that this is a game that the Bulldogs win quite handily, but I think they will fall a little short of covering the spread. I also think that the point total in this one will stay UNDER.
