SEC Championship Odds, Game Info: Georgia Bulldogs vs Auburn Tigers
During the Nick Saban era in Alabama, we have grown accustomed to seeing the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, more often than not, on their way to another national title. While there are going to be some college football fans who will be a little disappointed that Alabama is not there this year, there are going to be many more who will be excited about the prospect of a rematch between the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers, who met in the regular season just a few short weeks ago.
That one ended in a blowout in favor of the Tigers, but it was a game where the Dawgs were sloppy, making a bunch of errors that eventually cost them the game. A Georgia win here would almost certainly see them in the playoffs, and even though the Tigers have 2 losses under their belt, you can almost guarantee that they will be in, too, if they come up with the win. This has all the makings of being the best game on the Conference Championship schedule, so be sure to wager and tune in. Auburn is in as a 2-point favorite, with the point total set at 48.

Why bet on the Georgia Bulldogs
It would be easy to look at the 40-17 loss that the Bulldogs suffered to the Tigers a few weeks ago and automatically write them off, but there are a few reasons why you shouldn’t do that. The Dawgs struggled mightily in that game, making mental errors and taking dumb penalties, basically looking like a team that was collapsing under the weight of being the #1 ranked team in the nation.

This team looks better as an underdog, and they certainly look better playing at home, which this game will essentially be. You can guarantee that the Mercedes-Benz Stadium is going to be a sea of red and black. You also need to consider that it’s very tough for a team to beat another team twice in such a short period of time. The Dawgs will play better this time around and will be looking to get off to a fast start to get the partisan crowd rocking. Georgia has won 9 of their last 13 meetings with Auburn, and have gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 against them.
- Series history: Saturday’s match marks the 122nd meeting between the Bulldogs and Tigers. Georgia holds a slight 57-56-8 advantage.
- Previous meeting: Auburn rolled Georgia 40-17 in November to snap a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
Why bet on the Auburn Tigers
You hate to pin all the hopes of a team on a single player, but this Tigers team would look a whole lot different, and not in a good way if they did not have the services of RB Kerryon Johnson. He was taken off the field in the win over Alabama last weekend with apparent should issue and is listed as probable for this weekend.
You can almost guarantee that Johnson will be in the line-up this coming Saturday, but you also need to wonder how effective he is going to be, especially when he is being consistently hit by a very physical Georgia D. A win for Auburn here is no guarantee of a playoff spot, especially with two losses already under their belt, but they would be hard to keep out. They would have beaten the #1 ranked team twice in the final 3 weeks of the season, and would also be a conference champ. That looks and smells like a playoff team to me. The Tigers have not been a solid ATS bet this season, going 5-4-3.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
The Bulldogs are coming into this one basically at full strength, while the injury to Johnson is definitely a concern for Auburn. I think that could prove to be the difference here, which is why I am going with the Georgia Bulldogs.
