In any playoff series in any sport, it is very often the final game that is the toughest to win. How many times have we seen a team on the brink of clinching a series and moving on suddenly get a little tight? How many times have we seen a team on the brink of elimination somehow manage to dig out of a hole and claw their way back into things?

The Boston Red Sox have made winning that final game look easy throughout the postseason and now it’s up to the LA Dodgers to see if they can repeat that feat. Up 3-2 in the NLCS, the Dodgers have an opportunity to clinch and move on to the World Series for the second straight season, but they are going to need to win on the road to make it happen.

The Brewers have been a fantastic story this year and look like a team with a bright future, but they are also not quite ready to give up on this season just yet, as we may find out on Friday night.

NLCS Game 6: Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers

Why bet on the Los Angeles Dodgers

After going down 2-1 in the series, the Dodgers have turned things around nicely by winning back to back games to take a stranglehold on the NLCS.

They got a split in their first two games in Milwaukee and know that a similar result here will mean that they will be on their way to the World Series and a date with the Boston Red Sox.

The key to their success over the last 2 games has been the performance of their pitching staff, who have contained the Brewers to just 3 total runs in those 2 games.

For this critical Game 6, the Dodgers will be going with Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound. He has been excellent in the postseason, helping the Dodgers win both games that he started. All told, he has pitched 11.1 innings and given up just 2 ER.

Why bet on the Milwaukee Brewers

It can be argued that the inexperience of the Brewers in the postseason showed a little in their 5-2 loss to the Dodgers in Game 5. Wade Miley was the man who started that one, but he was pulled after just 5 pitches, with the lone batter he faced walking in the opening inning.

It was a strategy that the Brewers had in place from the start, but one that blew up in their face, as the Dodgers ended up winning rather comfortably.

They are now right behind the 8-ball, and it will be Miley who gets the start in Game 6, although we are almost positive that this will be a legitimate start where he is expected to go as deep as possible. In his two starts prior to the 5-pitch effort, Miley threw 9.4 scoreless innings and surrendered just 1 BB.

Expert Pick and Predicted Score

The Brewers decision to pull Miley after 5 pitches may not have worked the other night, but it may well work in their favor here. Given his previous work, he would appear to be the best man for the job, which is why I think the Brewers force a Game 7.

Predicted Score: Milwaukee Brewers 3 Los Angeles Dodgers 2
