What was supposed to be a day off before the MLB Postseason began turned into something completely different after the dust settles on the end of the regular season.
The National League race was tight all year, but I don’t think anyone expected two of the divisions to end in a tie. That is exactly what happened, though, with the Central and West Divisions both needing a tiebreaker game to finally settle things once and for all.
What we got was a thrilling doubleheader Monday that started with the Cubs hosting the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers, a team that won 7 in a row to force the extra game. The Brewers made it 8 with a 3-1 win in hostile territory, forcing the Cubs to go into the Wild Card game on Tuesday night. They will now host the Colorado Rockies, who went down 5-2 in LA against the Dodgers. They will be hopping back on a plane and playing in their 3rd different time zone in the last 3 days, which cannot be easy.

Why bet on the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies really appear to be up against here after all the traveling they will have done over the last couple of days. Having this one be a late game will help a little, but you all that travel puts them at a little disadvantage as they head into Wrigley Field.
The good news is that when they played there earlier this season, they took 2 of them from the Cubs in that series. On the downside of things, the one game that they lost in that series features the exact same pitching match-up that we will see on Tuesday night.
If you include the tiebreaker game that the Rockies just played, Colorado ended the regular season with a 44-38 record on the road, which is not too shabby.
Reports are the Kyle Freeland will get the start for this one, with his season mark coming in at 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA.
Why bet on the Chicago Cubs
While the Cubs will be more than a little disappointed to have surrendered a 5-game lead to the Brewers in September, they at least get to sleep in their own beds and go back and try again in their own ballpark today.
They also have the benefit of an experienced pitcher on the mound for this one. Lester had a regular season record of 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA, but it is perhaps his postseason experience that gives the Cubs the edge here.
He has started in no less than 21 postseason games, and also has a trio of World Series rings to his name, so you know that he is not going to buckle under the pressure in this game, especially in front of his own fans.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This game is more than likely going to start out as a pitcher’s duel, but I think the travel of the past few days will eventually wear down the Rockies. I like the Cubs to tack on some runs late as they get the win.
