Can't Lose Bet

Since the start of the season, very little has changed in the Eastern and Western Conferences. Over in the East, the Toronto Raptors have led from start to finish, with a 2-4 game margin being the average size of their lead. In the West, several teams have taken a turn at the top, which should give you an indication of just how tight that race is at the moment.

Things might well change again, with a very busy NBA weekend schedule on tap. We are going to get things rolling by taking a quick look at a couple of big games set to go on Friday night with our NBA Duo for Friday.

Indiana Pacers at Philadelphia 76ers

Game Information

What: Indiana Pacers at Philadelphia 76ers
When: Friday, December 14, 2018, 7:30 PM ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center-PA, Philadelphia, PA

The Indiana Pacers are on a hot streak heading into this one, as they have won 5 straight games, a run that has lifted them all the way up to the #4 spot in the Eastern Conference. Depending on the other results, they could climb all the way up to the #2 spot with a win, but they would certainly leapfrog the 76ers by winning this one. The tough part here will be overcoming a Philadelphia team that is outstanding at home, although the Pacers do have a respectable 8-6 road record. Indiana fell 100-94 at home in their earlier meeting with the 76ers this season.

Indiana proved to be a bit of a bogey team for Philly last season, as they lost 3 of 4 to Indiana, with 2 of those losses coming in OT. While the 76ers lost their last game to fall to 3 ½ games out of the lead, they are still a solid 7-3 in their last 10 games. Perhaps more importantly, though, they have been money at home, going 14-2 in their 16 games on home court.

Games between these two tend to be closely fought, and I think we can expect more of the same here. I am on Philly to notch their second win of the season versus the Pacers.

Predicted Score: Philadelphia 76ers 104 | Indiana Pacers 100

NBA Duo for Friday: Indiana Pacers at Philadelphia 76ers & Oklahoma City Thunder at Denver Nuggets Indiana-Pacers-at-Philadelphia-76ers

Oklahoma City Thunder at Denver Nuggets

Game Information

What: Oklahoma City Thunder at Denver Nuggets
When: Friday, December 14, 2018, 10:00 PM ET
Where: Pepsi Center, Denver, CO

The Thunder are starting to roll in the race for the top spot in the Western Conference and now find themselves just a half game back of the leaders, who just happen to be the Denver Nuggets. The Thunder have picked up 7 wins in their last 10 games, but they continue to be up and down on the road, sitting 1 game above .500 in games played outside OKC. The Thunder have already lost to Denver this season and have just 1 win in their last 6 meetings with the Nuggets.

When Denver surrendered the lead in the West to Golden State, there were some who thought it might be the start of a downward trend. That has not been the case, though, as they are back on top after winning 8 of their last 10 games. Home cooking has been particularly good for the Nuggets, as they are 10-3 on home court. You have to go back to April, 2017 to find the last time that Denver lost at home to the Thunder.

I think that Denver’s record against the Thunder speaks for itself here, which is why I like them to go out and get the win on Friday night.

Predicted Score: Oklahoma City Thunder 104 | Denver Nuggets 110
