6 Eastern Teams to Look out for in the 2017-18 NBA Season
The NBA is about to jump into action on Oct. 17, approximately 8 days earlier than usual. According to Adam Silver, this will help reduce the amount of back-to-back games in the season. Despite the early start, we’re ready to provide our preliminary notes on the teams that will stand out this 2017-18 season and become valuable NBA betting picks as we head towards the playoffs in April 2018.

Solid Teams & Promising Upsets
Coach Brad Stevens is setting up the Celtics for great success with this roster. We’re expecting the team to evolve as they get more games in due to their high collective ceiling. If you’re looking for a team prone to executing upsets and giving it all to get past LeBron and come out on top of the Eastern Conference, this is the team for you. However, remember that while there’s a lot of potential in this squad, it’s going to take some time to get there and it might not show right off the gates, specially when facing teams with more seasoned ballers.
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +1000
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: +230
Fans have high expectations for the Raptors this season due to the great position they’re in to make their second-ever conference finals appearance. This Raptors squad isn’t only knowledgeable but it’s also very talented all around. Expect DeRozan to push the Raptors to new limits if he improves his long-range performance and Lowry to become an important part of the starting five throughout the season as long as he doesn’t get injured before they even make it into the playoffs.
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +500
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: +1600
Is LeBron James and the rest of the Cavaliers squad ready for a fourth face-to-face with Golden State? You bet they are, but that doesn’t mean it will be a breeze. While the Cavaliers might not need the 1st seed to come out on top of the conference, it would surely make their lives easier. The opposition is full of new tricks and promising up-and-comers but in the end you can count on the Cavaliers dominating as long as they don’t underestimate other teams in the conference.
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +300
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: -250
It’s hard to trust the Pacers after George’s departure but it’s also important to take a look at what their new starting five look like. Assuming Young doesn’t miss a lot of games and Oladipo can put his big boy pants on, the Pacers will pull of some interesting upsets. However, this squad might be one of the most volatile squads in the East right now due to its low margin of error. If anything goes wrong, things might start falling off quickly for Pacers.
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +10000
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: +6500
Miami has been carefully stoking the flames for a while now and this is the season to come out bright and strong. The Heats’ squad might be lacking a superstar but they’ve got quite the solid core of young players ready to push for a top 4 spot this season. Spoelstra rounded up key players like Winslow to strengthen their defense and Whiteside to boost their offense. Such a balanced is just what bettors need to profit from both straight up wins and potential upsets.
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +6500
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: +2800
Odds to win the NBA Championship: +2300
Odds to win the NBA Eastern Conference: +1000
Interestingly enough the Wizards’ bench remains arcane. What can they do? What are they capable of? When will we see them in action? Hopefully not too son. The Wizards have strong ballers in Wall and Beal but they’ve got to avoid injuries at all costs if the squad wants to contest the topmost spots in the standings. The bench might come in strong but there’s little to no information for us to confirm that, so in order to profit from the NBA odds, we’re looking for the starting five to stay there as long as possible.
Will the Warriors Dominate the West?
Golden State does look very strong but there’s plenty other teams to look into when placing your NBA bets this upcoming season. Hop over to our breakdown of 5 teams to look out for in the Western Conference and find out more teams to profit from this 2017-18 NBA season.
