After predicting Game 2 completely perfect, one thing is clear to me now when it comes to the 2018 NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers clearly need LeBron James to be ‘super-human’ if they are going to defeat Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors this postseason.

If you’re wondering whether James is going to show up with another super-human effort like he did in game 1 or whether the Cavs are going to get a mere mortal performance from their future Hall of Famer while meekly succumbing to another barrage of Golden State three-pointers, then let’s get to my expert pick on Game 3 right now.

Game Information

Golden State (and mostly Stephen Curry) completely blitzed Cleveland in Game 3 with an onslaught of three-pointers that resulted in an overwhelming 122-103 win for the Dubs on Sunday. Curry drained an NBA Finals record with nine three-pointers en route to a game-high 33 points and the Warriors made 15 of 36 overall from beyond the arc. Right now, Curry has scored or assisted on more points in transition (35) than the Cavaliers have scored as a team (33) in the first two games. The Warriors sweet-shooting floor leader has also drained a blistering 50.0 percent on his 3-pointers after shooting 38.5 percent, 40 percent and 38.8 percent each of the past three years. Curry is averaging a healthy 31.0 points per game after averaging 26.0 in 2015, 22.6 in 2016 and 26.8 in 2017.

“It looks like he’s lining himself up for something great if we continue to win,” Warriors forward Draymond Green said of Curry’s play the first two games.

The Warriors also got 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists from Kevin Durant and 20 points from Klay Thompson in the win, not to mention the fact that JaVale McGee shot 6-for-6 and Shaun Livingston shot 5-for-5 in the win.

“They’re a dangerous ballclub no matter what,” James said of the Warriors. “It starts with those four guys, those four All-Stars. Everybody else just does their job and they don’t miss a beat when they put someone in or they take someone out.”

Cleveland got a very good performance from James, but not a super-human one like the 51 points he dropped in Game 1. James scored a team-high 29 points while adding 13 assists and nine rebounds to come up just shy of a triple-double. Kevin Love added 22 points and 10 rebounds in the loss while George Hill added 15 points and Tristan Thompson, 11 points.

“We want to continue to be uncomfortable,” James said after the loss. “Just because we’re going home doesn’t mean we can relax.”

Again, it’s clearly going to take a Herculean effort from LeBron James in order to beat a Golden State team that is simply too loaded with talent for the Cavs to keep up with. Having said that, I am expecting another super-human effort from James in Game 3 – along with some much-improved performances from his teammates – in order to get the super narrow home win and avoid an embarrassing sweep.

NBA Finals Golden State Warriors Vs Cleveland Cavaliers Game 3 5

The Warriors are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against teams from the Central Division. More importantly, Cleveland has looked like a different team at home than on the road and have covered the chalk in each of their last four home dates while going 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Sheer desperation – and another jaw-dropping performance from LeBron James will be just enough to lift the Cavs to victory in Game 3.

Pick: Cleveland +4½
