NBA Games for Wednesday: Bucks at Rockets and Pistons at LA Lakers
It’s always fun when you get to see the best teams in the Eastern Conference go head to head with the best that the West has to offer, which is what we are getting on Wednesday night when the Milwaukee Bucks take a trip to Houston to face the Rockets. Also on NBA Wednesday Night, we have the Detroit Pistons, who are sitting just below the playoff line in the East, heading out West to take on an LA Lakers team that is sinking like a stone while LeBron James sits out with an injury. Let’s take a closer look at these two games.
Milwaukee Bucks at Houston Rockets
The Bucks hold the top spot in the East by the very slimmest of margins, with the Toronto Raptors breathing down their necks. The Bucks have been able to maintain their lead at the top thanks to a consistent run of form that has seen them win 8 of their last 10 games. Where things have been a little tougher for this group is on the road, where they are 9-7. Certainly not a terrible record, but still not as good as you would expect from a top contender.
The Rockets are once again starting to take off after a rough start to the season, and they are coming off a very nice win over the Denver Nuggets, who sit atop the West. That win came at home, where Houston are now 14-5 on the season. Perhaps even more positive for the Rockets in this game is that they are unbeaten the last 5 times that Milwaukee have come to town. They also won both meetings last season and are 8-2 in their last 10 versus Milwaukee.
Houston are playing some great ball right now, especially on home court. I have them winning this one.
Predicted Score: Milwaukee Bucks 107 | Houston Rockets 114
Detroit Pistons at Los Angeles Lakers
The Detroit Pistons have been on a bit of a skid of late, winning just 3 games out of their last 10, a run that has taken them down below the playoff line, a single game back of the #8 spot. The road has not been particularly kind to Detroit, who are just 6-11 outside their own building, but they may be running into the Lakers at just the right time. The Pistons are looking to break out of a 2-game losing skid and start moving back in the right direction once again.
The sooner the Lakers get LeBron James back in the fold the better because this is absolutely not the same team without him in the line-up. They are coming off a win in their most recent outing, but they are still just 4-6 in their last 10 games. This will be their first meeting with Detroit, with the two meetings last season ending in a split. The Lakers are 12-8 against teams with a losing record this season, but let’s not forget that the majority of those came with LeBron in the line-up.
This is going to be a close one, I believe, but I have a feeling that Detroit might just be able to edge this one out.
Predicted Score: Detroit Pistons 103 | Los Angeles Lakers 101
