Can't Lose Bet

As we head into a new week in the NBA, we draw ever closer to the All-Star Break, with the races in both conferences still hanging very much in the balance.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are right in the thick of things, sitting in the #2 spot in the Western Conference. NBA Tuesday Night will see them welcome in a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has just fired their head coach. The Golden State Warriors are in second in West and will play host to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night as they look to close the gap on the Denver Nuggets. Let’s take a closer look at these two games.

The Timberwolves are now looking for a new president and coach after firing Tom Thibodeau over the weekend. The move came at a bit of a strange time, as the firing came on the heels of the T-Wolves best win of the season, where they took out the Lakers 108-86 for their second straight win. That positive run does not cover the fact that this team is still below the playoff line at the #11 spot, sitting 2 games below .500. Minnesota have had some real issues on the road this season, going just 5-15. That said, one of those wins did come on the road to OKC.

The Thunder are still stuck in the #3 spot in the Western Conference, although they are just 2 games off the pace being set by the Denver Nuggets. The Thunder do have a winning record over their last 10 games, but it’s fair to suggest that going 6-4 is not enough to close the gap at the top. Over the past 2 seasons, the Thunder are just 1-4 SU against the T-Wolves, but given the current state of these two teams, you have to think they can improve on that record.

OKC have not really had any success against Minnesota in recent season, but I see that changing in this one, as I have the Thunder winning.

Predicted Score: Minnesota Timberwolves 107 | Oklahoma City Thunder 112

New York Knicks at Golden State Warriors

Game Information

It has been another truly miserable season for the New York Knicks, as they are once again down near the cellar in the Eastern Conference. Overall, they are just 10-29, with just 4 of those wins coming on the road. Also, they have just 3 wins from 19 games against teams with a winning record and are on a 9-game losing skid against the Golden State Warriors. Their last win on Oakland came back in 2014.

The Golden State Warriors are not necessarily the automatic winning pick that they have been over the past few seasons, but they are still a very healthy 26-14 on the season. Perhaps more importantly, they are 20-2 versus teams with a losing record this season. The Warriors have also been very consistent at home, going 15-6 thus far.

The Warriors don’t often go 6-4 over a 10-game stretch, but they should still be much too strong for a Knicks team that has barely cracked double-digit wins this season.

Predicted Score: New York Knicks 108 | Golden State Warriors 124
