NFL Duo of Action: Bills at Jets & Redskins at Buccaneers
The Buffalo Bills are looking increasingly pathetic NFL betting buffs, but they’ll look to either cover the chalk or get the outright upset in Week 10 against a rebuilding New York Jets team that has only one more win than they do and a rookie quarterback under center.
Down in the Sunshine State, Adrian Peterson and the Washington Redskins will look to take down a dysfunctional Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has played musical chairs at quarterback through the first half of the season.
If you’re wondering what’s going to go down in both Week 10 matchups, then let’s get to my pair of expert picks right now with our NFL Duo of Action.
Buffalo Bills Vs New York Jets
The New York Jets may have lost three straight games and they may be in the midst of an all-out rebuild under rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, but really, they’re so far ahead of where the completely awful Buffalo Bills are right now, that the J-E-T-S are the easy pick to win and cash in even as a nearly double-digit home favorite.
Buffalo has lost four straight including their 41-9 blowout loss against Chicago on Sunday. New York is coming off a 13-6 loss against Miami on Sunday, but New York averages almost 12 points per game more than Buffalo while simultaneously giving up 3.4 fewer points per game defensively.
More importantly, while the Jets clearly have found their franchise signal-caller in the strong-armed Darnold, Buffalo is in bad shape at the position, particularly if rookie Josh Allen doesn’t pan out the way they hope. Buffalo has been held to 13 points or less in each of their last four games while scoring nine points or less in each of their last three games.
The Jets are a robust 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games while Buffalo has gone 1-5 SU in its last six road games, 2-4 ATS in their last six games overall and 2-4 ATS in their last four road dates against the Jets. I’m feeling a double-digit win coming for Sam Darnold and company!
Predicted Score: New York Jets 27 | Buffalo Bills 17
Washington Redskins Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I nailed Washington’s 38-14 home blowout loss against Atlanta on Sunday and now I’m coming back with a pick for the Skins to win and cash in against a reeling Tampa Bay team that has lost two straight including their 42-38 smackdown loss against Carolina on Sunday.
Tampa Bay has the far more explosive offense in this contest by averaging 8.6 points per game more than Washington, the Buccaneers also have an awful defense that gives up a whopping 34.3 points per game defensively to rank dead last in points allowed while Washington has limited the opposition to just 21.5 points per game to rank ninth in points allowed.
While veteran quarterback Alex Smith – and even more so, future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson – have helped solidify Washington’s offense this season, Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick have combined this season to play some mostly awful football. Fitzpatrick has thrown 17 TD passes and seven interceptions while Winston has tossed six TD passes and 10 costly interceptions.
The Redskins are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an SU or ATS loss, an identical 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games on grass. On the flip side of the coin, Tampa Bay has gone an uninspiring 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against their NFC counterparts, 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games following an ATS loss, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss. I’m expecting Washington’s defense to force Fitzpatrick – or Winston – into at least two costly turnovers in order to get the win and ATS cover as a surprising road underdog.
Predicted Score: Washington Redskins 31 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28
