NFL Trio of Action: Chargers at Raiders, Dolphins at Packers & Seahawks at Rams
Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders will be in all-out desperation mode when they host Philip Rivers and the red-hot Los Angeles Chargers in their Week 10 AFC West matchup this coming weekend.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will look to bounce back from their humbling Week 9 loss to take down the Miami Dolphins in a meeting of playoff hopefuls.
Last but not least, Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams will try to get past Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks in the second of their two annual NFC West division clashes.
If you want to know if the Raiders, Packers, and Rams can all hold down the fort at home, then let’s find out now with our NFL Trio of Action.
Los Angeles Chargers Vs Oakland Raiders
Look, there’s no sense in beating around the bush with my pick on this Week 10 mismatch. Philip Rivers and the streaking Los Angeles Chargers have won five straight games while looking more and more like the legitimate conference championship contender they were supposed to be prior to the start of the regular season.
Oakland has looked completely inept in head coach Jon Gruden’s return to the NFL. The Raiders have lost four straight and really, they should be winless had they not been gifted a win over Cleveland earlier this season. Oakland looked like a bunch of middle schoolers in their awful 34-3 beatdown loss against San Francisco on Thursday night.
The Chargers are averaging almost 10 points per game more than the Raiders while also giving up nine fewer points per game defensively. Los Angeles has gone 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against Oakland and 10-4 SU in their last 14 games against the Raiders overall. Even as a 10-point road favorite, I’m going with the Bolts to cover with room to spare!
Predicted Score: Los Angeles Chargers 38 | Oakland Raiders 10
Miami Dolphins Vs Green Bay Packers
The Miami Dolphins may have won in Week 9 while the Green Bay Packers suffered a convincing loss on Sunday night, but neither one of those outcomes is going to have a bearing on this Week 10 matchup simply because Green Bay is playing at home – and they’re the only team in this matchup with a ‘real’ quarterback.
While both teams in this affair allow right around 25.0 points per game defensively, Green Bay averages almost four points per game more than Miami, plus, (let’s be honest for a moment) Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers could play quarterback better with his left hand – and with a patch on one eye – than anyone on Miami’s roster.
Green Bay has gone 11-4-1 SU in their last 16 home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Week 10 games. Miami is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games in November while also going 1-8 ATS in their last nine road games. I say keep it simple and back Aaron Rodgers and company to get the big double-digit win at home to cover the chalk as a slightly more than touchdown home favorite.
Predicted Score: Green Bay Packers 31 | Miami Dolphins 21
Seattle Seahawks Vs Los Angeles Rams
Seattle let me down in a big way by falling to the Chargers 25-17 on Sunday to snap a modest two-game winning streak while the rams suffered their first loss of the season by losing to New Orleans 45-35. Now, I’m thinking the Rams are a near lock to get back in the win column in Week 10, but they’re not beating their NFC West rivals by the 11 points it would take for them to cover the spread.
While Los Angeles averages about 10 points per game more than Seattle, the Seahawks have the statistically better defense in limiting the opposition to 19.5 points per game to the Rams’ 22.2 points per contest allowed. Two of the last three and three of the last six meetings between these division rivals have been decided by six points or less and I’m expecting this one to as well.
I know Seattle has gone 1-5 ATS in their last six road dates against the Rams, but Russell Wilson and company are also 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss, 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 10 and a robust 12-4-2 ATS in their last 18 games following a straight up loss. With Jared Goff and the Rams going just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against their NFC counterparts and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall, I say back Seattle to cover while Los Angeles wins outright.
Predicted Score: Los Angeles Rams 31 | Seattle Seahawks 24
