Chelsea Vs Barcelona: Game Information, Soccer Betting Picks and Odds
UEFA does a fantastic job of making the Champions League the spectacle that It deserves to be, splitting the Round of 16 into two. We saw 4 games go on Tuesday and Wednesday last week, with the remaining 4 games in this round set to go on the same days this week. The highlight of the two Tuesday games is the one that sees Barcelona head to London to face the defending Premier League champions, Chelsea. This is not the draw that either one of them had probably hoped for at this stage, but if you are going to be crowned the Kings of Europe, you are going to need to knock off the best teams in the business at some point. Barcelona has been nothing short of phenomenal on the domestic front this season and needs to be considered one of the favorites to win the Champions League. Chelsea is not looking as good as they did when they won the EPL last year, but this is still a very good team that can beat anyone when they are in form. These two have met 12 times in the past, with Chelsea winning 4, Barcelona winning 3, and 5 draws. So, let’s review all game details, including the soccer betting picks and odds.

Why bet on Chelsea
It would be easy to write off Chelsea when you look and see that they are sitting in 4th in the league right now, but they are just 3 points out of second. It is second that is what everyone else is playing for right now, as Manchester City are running away with things there. Say what you want about the Blues, this is a dangerous squad. They have scored 49 goals in league play this season, and the addition of Olivier Giroud at the transfer deadline is going to help them coming down the stretch. At home this season, Chelsea are 9-2-3, banging on 24 goals and surrendering just 10. The defense has held up their end of the bargain, not conceding a goal in the last two, while the offense has scored 7. With the league title now out of reach, Chelsea is going to work hard to win silverware in Europe, although they will need a strong home performance to have a shot at moving on.
Why bet on Barcelona
It is probably Manchester City and Barcelona who would be considered the best teams in Europe right now. Both have been dominant all season long, although Barcelona have a bit of an edge in that they have yet to lose a game in La Liga this season. Given the players that the Spanish giants have at their disposal, it’s not really a major shock that they have hammered in 62 goals and given up just 10 goals in league play this season. They have been as good on the road as they have been at home, winning 10 and drawing 3 in their 13 away days to this point. They have also amassed an impressive +25 goal differential away from home. As always, it will be Lionel Messi pulling the strings for Barca, although it is worth noting that he has yet to score in 8 previous games against Chelsea.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I think we are in for a bit of a tight game here with goals at a premium. Barcelona would be happy with a draw, which I think is what they will get. I also like them to sneak an away goal.
Predicted Score: Chelsea 1 Barcelona 1
