English Premier League Picks and Predictions for the Weekend
It’s been 6 weeks of Premier League action and we are now down to just one team with a 100% record. That team would be Liverpool and they will be seriously tested this week with a trip to London to face Chelsea, a team who are still unbeaten through the first 6 weeks.
That is just one of the big games on tap in the EPL this weekend, so we will be casting the net a little wider to find some other games to preview. We will, as always, have some predictions to go with all those games, so let’s get right to the action.
Chelsea Vs Liverpool
This will be the second time that these two will have met in a matter of a few days, as it was Chelsea who came up with a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Caraboa Cup earlier this week.
You can basically throw that one out the window, as that is a competition that is never really taken too seriously by the bigger teams in the league.
Chelsea lost their perfect record last week with a disappointing 0-0 tie with West Ham, and I think they might be in trouble again here.
Liverpool have been nothing short of fantastic to start the season, with their defense finally delivering the goods, surrendering just 2 goals in 6 games.
I have the Reds winning this one by a single goal.
Predicted Score: Chelsea 0 Liverpool 1
Manchester City Vs Brighton
This will be the 3rd straight week where the champions have gone against teams newly promoted to the EPL.
They will have been more than a little disappointed with their 1-1 draw against Wolves a couple of weeks ago, but they put things right with a 3-0 win over Fulham last weekend.
In Brighton, they will be facing a team that has just 1 win in their last 5 games, although that one came at the expense of Manchester United, so they cannot simply be written off here.
Manchester City will have learned their lesson in that tie with Wolves and should deliver a comfortable win here.
Predicted Score: Manchester City 3 Brighton 0
Arsenal Vs Watford
It was a very wobbly start to the season for the Gunners, but they appear to be finding their feet playing under a new system with a new head coach, as they have now won 3 straight.
Their latest was a 2-0 win over Everton in a game that they probably didn’t deserve to get 3 points from. They will have another tough test against a Watford team that has been one of the early surprises of the season.
They have fallen off a little in the last two weeks after a perfect start, dropping points to both Manchester United and Fulham.
I think this one could be quite entertaining, and I think we are going to see some goals in a tie game.
Predicted Score: Arsenal 2 Watford 2
Huddersfield Vs Tottenham
We may only be 6 weeks into the EPL season, but it is already time to start panicking for Huddersfield, as they are bottom of the table with just 2 points from those games.
They did a fantastic job of surviving in their first season in the EPL last year, but things look as though they are going to be tougher this time around.
This weekend, they will welcome in a Tottenham team that broke out of a 2-game losing skid with a win over Brighton last week. Spurs need to keep pace with the leaders, so look for them to come out strong here.
Predicted Score: Huddersfield 0 Tottenham 2
